My only critiques of this otherwise excellent piece:

1) The left top of his waistcoat trim is uncolored (just below his cravat).

2) His legs (below the knee, at least) seem a little... hefty. His legs would be thinner if he was wearing breeches and stockings.

Excellent shading.. :)

I remembered that he wore two different kinds of uniform in the first film:
-On his promotion, he wore a fancy one
-During the battle, he wore a plain one

Why is that so?

Commodores were captains with admirals' powers. So they were permitted to wear a rear-admiral's coat on formal occations and return to their captains' dress when on the job.

I'm guessing that sort of makes them something like a squadron leader or a senior Post-Captain with command over more than one ship? This is a very difficult rank to define, as so many navies use the rank in so many different ways. Sometimes it's a flag rank, sometimes it isn't, but then again you have the American Navy which didn't have a true Admiralty system for a while. If I remember right there was a time when Commodore was as high as you could get in the USN - but it was a temporary rank - and then there was the time when we just had a generic "Flag Officer" grade, which nobody in the service seemed to like very much!

Roseart markers as a base, then Prismacolor colored pencils to add flair, texture, shading. :) Thanks! *Bows*
